Sakho's born in Paris to Senegalese parents &'s the fourth child of a family of seven kids. He's raised in the northern neighborhood of Goutte d'Or. Sakho intiated his football journey at the age of six playing for the juniors of hometown club Paris FC. In 2002, he's lured away to professional club Paris Saint-Germain. Sakho's originally a striker, However due to Paris Saint-Germain was youth group having fewer defenders than strikers, he's shifted into a longer defensive role. 

Sakho struggled to adapt during his foremost year at the Camp des Loges, the headquarters of the club was youth academy, often refusing to accept orders handed out by the trainers, such as while to leave to bed. At one point, he's warned with suspension from the club due to his constant not good behavior. succeeding guidance from his parents &, particularly, under-13 Paris Saint-Germain coach Christian Mas, Sakho curbed his not good behavior & began to concentrate on his studies & football. while Sakho's 14, his father suddenly died. The resulting pain led to Sakho considering quitting football, However he later described that idea as "useless" & returned to the club behind bereavement. Sakho quickly became one of the club was most sought behind prospects winning numerous MVP awards during his duration in the youth academy. In April 2005, he's a part of the Île-de-France region group that achieved the 2004–05 Coupe Nationale. That exact year, he's a part of the Paris Saint-Germain under-18 group that achieved the Championnat National des 18 ans league title, despite being 3 years younger than several of his teammates. 

In total, Sakho spent nearly six years at the Camp des Loges. A day behind his 17th birthday, manager Paul Le Guen called the youngster up for the club was UEFA Cup Round of 32 foremost leg match against AEK Athens on 14 February 2007. Sakho intiated the match picking up a yellow card in the 20th minute. He donned 85 minutes before being substituted out as Paris Saint-Germain achieved the match 2–0. Sakho donned his second & last match of the season in the UEFA Cup Round of 16 foremost leg match against Benfica, he donned the full match in a 2–1 victory.
